Computer-based assessment of future skills

The aim of this project was to create new dynamic digital assessment tools for the evaluation of transversal competences in educational institutions.

The project consisted of two parts:

Part 1
A research-based framework for computer-based teaching of cross-cutting competences

Part 2
Developing and piloting new assessment and teaching methods.

The first part analysed existing assessment data and reports the results. This provided the scientific basis for the development of an assessment platform. In the second part, the new assessment and training platform was tested in a series of pilot studies.

In this project, computer-based instruction was developed using log data analysis, in particular its use in the development of cross-cutting competences and in teaching interventions.

Research questions

  1. How should future skills, or transversal competences, be defined, assessed and taught in order to best support the development of cognitive and non-cognitive skills?

  2. Can broad competences be measured by using log data instead of self-administered questionnaires?

  3. How can computer-based tests be used to design adaptive educational software?

  4. How can log data analysis help identify critical points in the solution process of complex problems and provide accurate feedback
