Erna Piila is a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Education and Culture of Tampere University. In addition to being a member of REAL, Erna is actively involved in the Research Group of Science Centered Pedagogy at the University of Helsinki, where she carries out her research. Her dissertation is focused on the effects STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) educational approach has on Mathematics motivation of high-achieving girls. Her long-term goal is to work on projects that may help encourage more girls to pursue careers in traditional hard sciences. Erna obtained her master’s degree in Mathematics, this her forte is especially the didactics of Mathematics.
