Mari-Pauliina Vainikainen is the leader of REAL and a professor of learning and instruction at the Faculty of Education and Culture of Tampere University. Her background is in educational psychology and special education. Since the beginning of 2000s, she has been working on large-scale international, national and local educational assessments. Her research focuses on the development of thinking skills and learning to learn competences as well as on educational support. Besides research, Mari-Pauliina’s duties include teaching master’s and doctoral level students at the Faculty of Education and Culture. Her courses cover themes related to assessment, transversal competences and quantitative research methods. Her other duties also include administration and development of the Faculty.
